Catherine Ann Barrentine (Cummings)
born on January 26, 1962 in San Jose passed away on monday January 18th 2021 at 58 years old in her El Dorado home. She survived by her husband Richard Barrentine her two daughters Melissa Nichols and Jessica Cummings and her grandchildren Cameron Zoe Ivie Ari and Reagan. She was born to Mr. & Mrs Edward Cummings. She was the second born out of 5. She had two brothers and three sister. Cathy moved to pleasent Valley El dorado county at the age of 7. She graduated from El Dorado Highschool in 1980 at the age of 18. She had her first child at the age of 20 in 1982. She married Craig Nichols in January 1983 and had her second child in 1984. She got divorced from Craig Nichols in 1985 Going to heald business college in Roseville working a part time job and trying to raise 2 kids in diapers by herself was a challenge but she managed to make it happen. Cathy graduated heald business college with a degree in computer science. No matter how tough things got being a single mother of two Cathy never gave up. Working two jobs having a teenager struggling with depression and getting into trouble with the law cathy loved her daughters unconditionally. Cathy's greatest accomplishments in life was raising her girls by herself and graduating from heald. Cathy had a big heart and lots of compassion for people. If someone needed help she would do what she could with what she had to help them. It didnt matter if it was a friend of hers or one of her daughters friends or a stranger she had never met. Cathy was a hard worker, a team player, and didnt depend on anyone for anything. If she wanted it she pursued it until she got it. Catherine was a loving and caring wife, mother, friend, sister, daughter, and grandmother. She left us too early but she she left us peacefully. Shes now with our heavenly father her two brothers her father and her grandparents. In 2004 she met the love of her life Richard Barrentine. They got married June 18th 2006. Just like her parents it was death do they part. No matter how tough things got between the love they had for eachother was stronger then any problem that arised in there life. Even her daughters couldnt run this one off. No matter what her girls and grandbabies were her top priorities. Catherine will be missed by many and was love by most people that got the pleasure of knowing her. She had compassion for animals just as much as she did for people. When she passed she had a cat named JC that she rescued out of the blackberry bushes when she was very young too young to be away from her mom. She also had a black lab pit bull mix named gunner that she rescued from the pound and another dog that is pit bull rotitwiler black lab mix named Samual.
